From April 9 to 12, 2024, the 4th international event of the CoGreenEU project took place in Fisciano, Italy. The event centered on empowering young Europeans to reflect and act on green transition and sustainability. The main activity, “Participative Workshop: The role of European citizens in the green transition and the European Green Deal,”was held on April 11. It focused on designing practical strategies to promote active citizenship aligned with the European Green Deal’s goals.

This workshop brought together participants from various nationalities to discuss the role of European citizens in the green transition. It explored key concepts such as sustainability, European citizenship values, and the inclusion of minorities in civic life. By the end, participants developed practical measures to encourage civic engagement and environmental responsibility within local communities.

 

Supporting Activities

The main workshop was complemented by additional activities:

  1. Intercultural Hackathon (April 9–10): Participants proposed creative ideas for civic participation in the European Green Deal, focusing on minority inclusion. Teams produced a video explaining the Green Deal and a list of actions to enhance engagement.
  2. Social Networks Contest (April 12): Teams created digital campaigns to raise awareness about the Green Deal and encourage civic participation through social media.

Key Outcomes

  • Increased awareness of citizens’ roles in the green transition.
  • Highlighted the values of European citizenship and the importance of inclusivity.
  • Developed actionable solutions for sustainability at the local level.

This event demonstrated the transformative potential of active citizenship and international cooperation in addressing climate challenges, reinforcing the commitment of young Europeans to building a sustainable future.
